Born in 1984, the Belgian / Israeli violist Nathan Braude won 2nd prize in the 11th International Brahms Competition in Austria in 2004 and at the age of 21 was the unanimous winner of the auditions for principal viola at the Limburgs Symphonie Orkest in Maastricht, The Netherlands.
Nathan performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras including the Solistes Européens, Luxembourg, the Jeugd & Muziek Orchestra of Antwerp, Orkest der Lage Landen, Limburgs Symphonie Orkest in Maastricht and the Solistes d’Europe chamber orchestra with whom his playing was described by Midi Libre as ‘…virtuosic, expressive, vibrant and refined…’.
Nathan has performed in North America, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Italy, Austria, France and Germany taking part in numerous festivals including the Verbier Festival, Sienna Chigiana, Ravinia Festival, the Colmar and Giverny Festivals and the Juventus Festival in Cambrai where he was nominated ‘Lauréat Juventus’ in 2008. In September of the same year he gave a very successful debut recital at the Bussels Bozar. Other highlights of the 2008-2009 season include Berlioz's Harold in Italy with the Limburgs Symphonie Orkest and the Sinfonia Concertante with the Orkest der Lage Landen.
In September 2009 Nathan joins the Aviv String Quartet, performing with them at prestigious venues such as Flagey in Brussels, Wigmore Hall in London, Berlin Konzerthaus… and recording the Dohnanyi string quartets on Naxos record label. During the 2009-2010 season Nathan will also give his début recital at the Théatre de la Ville in Paris, take part in a chamber music concert with the Amati Ensemble at the concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and tour Australia - 15 concerts with the violinist Julien Dieudegard and cellist Martin Smith. He also plays in the Cannes Music Festival, Festival Juventus, Festival de Giverny, the Castletown Concerts near Dublin with Barry Douglas, and plays the Bartók viola concerto with the Limburgs Symphonie Orkest directed by Etienne Siebens.
His chamber music partners include artists and ensembles such as Miriam Fried, Ilya Gringolts, Jean-Claude van den Eynde, Grigori Zhislin, Michel Strauss, Marc Coppey, Gil Sharon, Paul Katz, Philippe Bernold, Bertrand Chamayou, Finghin Collins, Graf Mourja, Ferenc Vizi, Oxalys ensemble, Amati Ensemble, European Camerata…
In September 2010 Nathan Braude takes up the position of Principal viola in the Brussels Philharmonic.
Nathan Braude’s teachers included his father Benjamin Braude, Nobuko Imai, Carol Rodland and Kim Kashkashian.
