The Ensemble Clément Janequin, with organist Yoann Moulin on the superb Silbermann organ of the Église Saint Maurice de Soulz perform their 'Au Sainct Nau' programme, a recording of which will be released on the Alpha label this autumn. The programme seeks to reflect the full diversity of music associated with this great holiday of the liturgical year. Brought together here are the two aspects, secular and religious, of Christmas: the near-pagan joy expressed with simplicity in the naive, touching poetry of the anonymous songs, as well as the mystery evoked with a more spiritual gravity, perceptible in the Latin pieces embellishing the church celebrations particular to this moment.
