Of a few annual traditions at Plush, Schubert’s String Quintet is always a cathartic finale to the season, this year performed by the Doric String Quartet. Their programme is one of the most exciting to date pairing Bartok’s extraordinary String Quartet No. 4 with ‘The Four Quarters’ by Thomas Adès. This bold and mysterious piece explores four different times of day through complex rhythms and innovative textures, culminating in its final movement The Twenty-fifth Hour. Plush Festival.
