Events · Doric String Quartet - Wigmore Hall

The Doric Sting Quartet (pictured here in the Midsummer festival at the Château d'Hardelot on 28th June) is taking part in the rather exotic "O/MODERNT: Monteverdi in Historical Counterpoint" programme au Wigmore Hall at 7.30 pm. Arnold Schoenberg has often been described as a 'reluctant revolutionary', an artist forced by inner creative powers to confront convention and overturn tradition. The innovative musical language of Monteverdi’s madrigals, like Schoenberg’s twelve-note compositions, emerged from their composer’s burning desire to express strong ideas, emotions and feelings in ways never heard before.
