Lina Tur Bonet, violin, and Kenneth Weiss, harpsichord, perform their La Petite Merveille and the Red Priest at the Centro Cultural de Belem on the 18th November. This programme brings together the violin sonatas of the extraordinary French composer Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, who was know in the court of Louis XIV as La Petite Merveille, that mix Italian virtuosity with French grace and herald the birth of the solo violin sonata form in France, with Vivaldi’s recently reconstructed Graz Sonatas that so well display the Red Priest’s brilliant, expressive writing. They go on to perform a programme of music from the Spanish peninsula at the famous Fundación Gulbenkian on the 20th November. Concerts organised as part of the Mostra Espanha 2015.
