Twelve concerts all round the island of Mull, with a concert in Iona Abbey and the final concert in St John’s Cathedral, Oban. From Wednesday September 4 until the Oban concert on the evening of Saturday September 7 there will be ten concerts where the Doric Quartet perform with ten young professionals in a variety of ensembles. This year’s repertoire includes quintets by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, and Schubert, a quartet by Britten in apposition to Fantasias by Purcell, some unfamiliar music by Taneyev and Kodály, and a new work by Scottish composer Sally Beamish. All these concerts are admission free, with invited donations.
